Oceanfront Beach & Park

Oceanfront Beach & Park will become one of Squamish’s most valued public assets. This almost eight acre site will bring the oceanfront to life with a Wind Sports Beach, A Family Beach Park, Sailing Centre, Lands End Monument, Cruise Ship Terminal, Pier, Performing Arts Facility and Arts Workshop. Its design will prioritize public use and access, with user-friendly features such as the large parking lot at its north edge and ready access to the Village.

Oceanfront Beach & Park. Squamish Oceanfront Development

Contiguous to the Wind Sports Beach, this park area is viewed as the quiet complement to that more activity-intense area. Large grass areas provide space for families, lots of running room for kids, informal sporting activity, and space for those simply seeking a nice place to sit and ponder. It is immediately adjacent to the Village, Commons and the Hotel; all the services are close by. When large events are staged at the Oceanfront, the Oceanfront Beach park area can also serve as the venue for spectators and participants. We envision a large stage in the Commons with the Village and the Chief as the backdrop, and spectators spilling out into the adjacent park area of Oceanfront Beach.

The Pier and Marina provide a nice marine view masking the Squamish Terminals. Those same features provide a wave break that will keep the beach area water calm. Like the Wind Sports Beach, this feature will also require filling in the water lot area. This will help create a better water edge that will not vary as much during tidal activity.

A large surface parking lot has been provided adjacent to Oceanfront Park to provide convenient public parking for all park users and visitors to the Oceanfront Village.
