Parks and Trails
SQUAMISH OCEANFRONT WILL HAVE NEARLY 19 ACRES OF PARKS, BEACHES AND OPEN SPACE THAT REPRESENT FULLY ONE-THIRD OF TOTAL DEVELOPABLE LAND. THEY OCCUPY THE MOST DOMINANT AND VALUABLE PROPERTY IN SUPPORT OF THE GOAL TO MAXIMIZE COMMUNITY ACCESS TO WATER AND AMENITIES.
OCEANFRONT PARK
Oceanfront Park is the defining area of this community and is destined to become one of the most treasured public amenities in Squamish—a source of pride for all residents. Located at the south end of the Oceanfront peninsula, it is a centre of activity, recreation and ultimate access to the ocean. The Wind Sports Beach, Sailing Centre, Lands End Monument, Oceanfront Beach, Cruise Ship Terminal and the Pier create a seamless blend of green space and built amenities that animate the Oceanfront year-round.
OCEANFRONT BEACH
The Oceanfront Beach is at the heart of the Oceanfront development. It combines a major park and green space with sand beach and access to the open ocean. It is a destination for families to spend a summer’s day and the place for residents to come for a tranquil stroll, enjoy a picnic on the beach or participate in a unique festival or concert. Open spaces blend into tree-lined walkways that lead to the beach, the Pier, the Lands End Monument and the Oceanfront Stroll, which encircles and connects the entire Oceanfront community.
WIND SPORTS BEACH
The unique geography and natural attributes of Squamish have made it a world-class destination for wind sports. The Squamish Oceanfront presents an opportunity to further enhance this reputation by developing a specially designed Wind Sports Beach that creates ideal conditions for wind sports enthusiasts and great viewing for spectators. The master plan provides a beach with optimal aspect to the prevailing winds at the south end of the peninsula, all engineered to enable easier launching of kites, windsurfers and dinghies.
