ARTS WORKSHOP & PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE
The Arts, Culture and Heritage community in Squamish is very strong, and the Squamish Oceanfront would not be complete without including the creative energy and presence of this diverse and dynamic group. The master plan provides for an evolving and creative arts presence.
Initially, artists can gather and incubate their craft and their businesses in an existing building on the site. Over time and as new artists join the community, it will begin to migrate to other commercial buildings throughout the site, including a designated arts studio building.
A lively Performing Arts Centre represents the jewel in the crown of the Oceanfront Park. Built by and for the Squamish Community, this multi-use 250-seat, sloped-floor theatre will be used for performing arts, film, lectures, education and conferences. Located near the Marine Centre, the focus will be on developing a facility that is practical and flexible in its use and features a cost-effective architectural style. Public spaces will be programmed for synergistic broader uses including visual art displays and public reception facilities.
